A Wing and a Prayer Dixieland Orchestra at Prime Timers BBQ

This year’s Prime Timers BBQ will feature “A Wing and a Prayer Dixieland Orchestra” directed by John Smith.

Their performance, inspired by New Orleans’ traditions and the music of Lois Armstrong, will be on Monday, July 8, 2024 at Farm Bureau.

The band includes Mark Baldin, cornet; Mike Knafu, clarinet; John D. Smith, trombone/manager; Roger Hintzsche, banjo; Deb Shofner, tuba; and Denny Vaupel, tuba.

The BBQ begins at 5:30 p.m. in the Farm Bureau auditorium and the entertainment will follow at 6:45 p.m. in the theater. 5Bs’s will prepare a picnic-style meal of one grilled pork chop and ¼ chicken. The sides are au gratin potatoes, coleslaw, applesauce, roll/butter, ice cream, lemonade, and coffee. No carryout’s will be available for this event. The cost of the BBQ and the entertainment is $16 per person. Registration opens on June 3 at the Farm Bureau office. The deadline to register is July 3.
