All growers or grower farm operations that transport or apply anhydrous ammonia, or otherwise maintain anhydrous ammonia equipment are required to be certified with the Illinois Department of Agriculture by April 1, 2022.
The DeKalb County Farm Bureau and Conserv FS are cosponsoring an in-person Anhydrous Training for certification on Thursday, Feb. 10. The training will take place at the DeKalb County Farm Bureau Building from 9 to 11 a.m.
Training is for individuals who transport or handle anhydrous ammonia – farmers/growers, farm employees, family members, and others who help.
Growers are not required to be certified to purchase anhydrous ammonia, but are required to be certified for handling and transporting. Certification is good for three years.
There is no cost for the training. Coffee and donuts will be provided.
Eric Bruning, Ridott plant manager with Stephenson FS Service Company, will be the training instructor.
To register for the Anhydrous Training, contact the DeKalb County Farm Bureau, 815-756-6361, by Feb. 9. Spaces may be limited.
