Students invited to illustrate agriculture

Every year, DeKalb County Farm Bureau conducts a design contest as a way for 1st-5th grade students to illustrate what they learned during the Ag in the Classroom (AITC) program and other ag-related classroom experiences.

The contest theme for each grade level correlates with the AITC lesson for that grade. First, second, and third place winners are selected from each grade. The grand prize-winning design from all grades will appear as the front cover of the Spring 2024 issue of the magazine.

Objectives
1. Promote classroom exploration of farm and food topics via ag literacy resources and Ag in the Classroom lessons.
2. Increase understanding of how our daily lives depend on agriculture.
3. Foster appreciation of the role of farms and farmers in our community.

Eligibility
The contest is open to 1st-5th grade classrooms in DeKalb County.

Entry Deadline
Entries must be received at the DeKalb County Farm Bureau office no later than Friday, April 5.

Prizes
All entrants will receive a participation ribbon. Gift cards of $25, $15, and $10 will be awarded to first, second, and third place winners respectively at each grade level. Up to three honorable mentions will also be chosen from each grade, with those entrants receiving honorable mention certificates.
