Libraries launch F.A.R.M. activity bags

Special thanks to Funding from the Community Action Grant from Meta’s DeKalb Data Center

Food & Agriculture Resources Monthly (F.A.R.M.) Bags are now available from public libraries across DeKalb County. Thanks to a Community Action Grant from Meta’s DeKalb Data Center, the activity bags will be available through July of 2027.

F.A.R.M. Bags include instructions and supplies for a hands-on science or inquiry activity plus an Ag Mag or reader. Every month features a different agricultural theme. September’s bag, for example, focuses on apples. Each bag contains a dissection activity to explore apple anatomy and the five senses, book suggestions, a video link, an apple idiom matching game, and more.

Enough bags will be available for over 400 families to investigate agricultural topics each month. The bags are provided free of charge to public libraries for patrons to take home or to use for family-focused library events. Bags will be assembled and delivered with help from high school FFA members.
