A popular monthly program that got its start in September of 2020 is continuing this summer. The FARM (Food & Agriculture Resources Monthly) Bags featured a dairy cow theme for June and will focus on water in July and pigs in August.
Elementary classrooms, public library patrons, and homeschool families have been the primary users of the resources, which have focused on a different agricultural theme each month.
The program allows educators to request supplies needed to create individual activity bags for children. Each bag includes a hands-on activity, informational reading, links to videos, and book recommendations.
The program was launched last fall as a way to provide ag literacy experiences for children despite in-person programs like farm field trips being cancelled due to the pandemic.

From September through May, nearly 5,000 FARM Bags were distributed throughout DeKalb County.
The FARM Bags are provided by DeKalb County Farm Bureau’s Ag Literacy program.
