Learn About Chicago’s Sweet Candy History

For much of its history, Chicago produced one-third of the nation’s candy.

Snickers, Milky Way, Wrigley’s gum, Cracker Jack, Baby Ruth, Butterfinger, Tootsie Roll, and Frango Mints were invented in Illinois. Learn the history of these tasty treats on Monday, May 6, 2024 beginning at 1 p.m. in the Farm Bureau Theater.

Award-winning historian, author, and actress, Leslie Goddard, will lead this presentation based on the book “Chicago’s Sweet Candy History” by Arcadia Publishing.

Before the presentation, Farm Bureau Prime Timers may enjoy lunch at 12-noon in the Farm Bureau Auditorium. Lunch fee is $9, payable by May 1 at the Farm Bureau office.
